2016! THE RETURN OF BOOK STORES!

I wrote several predictions for 2016 and published then on here a few days ago.. Read them if you choose.

I have also been reading some other people’s predictions. One I found in the Wall Street JOURNAL is amazingly accurate, wish I would have said it myself.

Ann Patchett predicts the return of book stores.. She writes,

This is going to be a fabulous year for books. In 2016, Elizabeth Strout has her best novel yet coming out, “My Name Is Lucy Barton,” and I can’t wait to sell the late Paul Kalanithi’s gorgeous “When Breath Becomes Air,” and just when you think Louise Erdrich can’t get any better, she goes and writes “LaRose.” Go to your local independent bookstore this year and buy a copy. You’ll be part of the trend.

Independent book stores are amazing. All book stores are amazing.

In my county, Schuylkill County Pennsylvania, there are virtually no more book stores left. We have to leave the county to get somewhere meaningful in the print world.  This has become a detriment since my nearly 5-year-old loves book stores..

Last month, we signed up at the library for the first time, at least for me, in 15 years.

It’s all worth it.
And yes, progress is amazing. Tech is great. But there will never be anything which surpasses holding paper bound together in your hand and turning pages. .

2016.. the return of book stores. I like that one.

I BELIEVE.

JUST DON’T BREAK YOUR GLASSES.

  1. The story depicted in the photo cane from the Twilight Zone and I recall it as one of the most heart breaking stories Serling ever produced. It was a great one. We should all be happy paper is still out there and happier still that we can read it. M. Stevens M
