Pink slime panic growing online..
But MSNBC asks if we are overreacting to the goo and gump that is in burger meat mostly fast foods, and mostly school lunches)..
It’s funny to me that about five years ago pink slime was described in all its gory detail .. full disclosure on this already happened.
The movie and book: FOOD INC. And it was a triumph of good journalism, good documentary, and muckraking.
Sadly it took five years for people to wonder.. what the hell is pink slime and why does my fast food burger have it in!?

Soylent green is people
And if the triple bypass burger doesn’t kill ya, the test tube version may.. For real, there is a good possibility that the first test tube hamburger will be produced this year.. Charleton Heston has left us on earth, but I’m inclined to remind you all that he screamed that Soylent Green was people. No one believed him. What will your test tube burger be? And can you order it well?

A French court has found Monsanto guilty of chemical poisoning
An amazing story from France, where a court found Monsanto guilty of chemical poisoning..
French farmer Paul Francois says he suffered neurological problems after inhaling Monsanto’s Lasso weedkiller..
The court agreed.. It’s a truly dramatic story, and this could lead to more lawsuits and victories by farmers against the GMO world of Monsanto..
And the story is so big, I have found almost NO STORIES IN THE AMERICAN MEDIA ABOUT THIS.
Maybe they are just letting it sink in before it gets reported… right?

Onions.. as American as apple pie

Outback remembers.. but Veterans would rather forget
I saw a moving commercial with nice music for Outback Steakhouse.. they are honoring Veterans Day and they want people to know it. Unfortunately for veterans, though, they honor may give more pain than pity..The plan: offer Veterans Day freebies
The commercial said that if you are a veteran today you can get a free blooming onion. And that’s nice. I mean, freebies are good and thanking a vet is great.. but.. it got me to thinking.. The news this week was about how veterans body parts were lost and simply tossed into a landfill, how we are increasingly getting involved in skirmishes throughout the world, the most recent being Libya and Northern Africa..
And when the veteran comes home, after all the death and destruction he or she witnessed, what can they get? An onion. A big giant fried onion. Thanks vets.. here, have an onion……
I just don’t get it.Posted on November 11, 2011 with 3 notes ()

You might be a smoker if…
You’re a miner, construction worker, or…that’s right, a food handler.

This comes from an official government study.. A study I doubt few needed to predict the trades where smoking happened most.Posted on September 30, 2011 with 18 notes ()

Things get better with age. Except when it’s rotted maggot-infested meat.
But mostly things like wine and kids.. Not meat.
However, news of the weird being read around the world today about a butcher in Naples being arrested for selling meat that was a decade old!
Some may in fact think that things were better in the early part of the 21st century, but everyone will agree on one thing: Meat from then isn’t. At least not meat from then being served now..
But the report on the strange butcher’s skills are abhorent to the senses, even carinvours would recoil in disgust at the attempt to digest the news. Food safety workers discovered bisquits with parasites, rotting meat and dairy, and even olives covered in thick mold.“
The butcher tampered with expiry dates on the products in order to keep on selling the items, even though some were a decade old, the report saidPosted on April 16, 2011 with 1 note ()
