The Fukushima files..
I take news from Fukushima with a grain of salt. Maybe instead I should take news about the nuclear disaster constantly in progress with a capsule of iodine instead, but I’m not quite there yet.
But where I am is constantly freaked by the news coming from there—news that the mainstream media really, arguably, is not reporting. Japan still grapples with the devastation of a post-quake land.. post tsunami.. Always on edge due to continuous jolts from fault lines. The ring of fire is on fire, and has been since March 2011.
Also today, another story floated around the world like earthquake debris: A former Fukushima worker believes that the ‘entire country’ of Japan could be evacuated if No. 4 fuel pool collapses.
Hear that? The entire country.
Oh I’m sorry, you’re busy watching the CHERNOBYL DIARIES trailer.. Get back to that, then…Words of Murata and this Daiichi worker got immediate attention after translation. Whether anything was lost in translation? I don’t know.. whether it was hyperbole? I don’t know.. Was Murata trying to just get attention of the world on Fukushima? Attention that slipped away steadily since radiation starting pouring out of the reactor and spread across the world.
Oh, and yes, if you’re on a beautiful beach somewhere along the left coast, get ready: The shores will soon be plagued by debris from Japan. It’s already hitting Hawaii and Alaska.
It is a small world after all.
So raise a glass to luck. And hopefully Murata is wrong and our luck will not run out…

More on the big Italy quake: Historic buildings hit with a lot of damage
Reuters reports on one man who died because he was at the right place.. at the wrong time:
A 57-year-old Italian was killed when part of an ironworks in Sant’ Agostino collapsed, and two men were killed in the same town when part of a ceramics factory collapsed. “He wasn’t supposed to be there. He changed shifts with a friend who wanted to go to the beach,” the mother of one of the victims said.

Excellent point and video from the website DutchSinse: Have a plan and be ready
Some mighty large quakes recently.
It’s not a bad idea to just have some notion of what you’d do in case of a dire emergency.. one that say, hasn’t hit since the 1300s….. Italy..

The earth is moving in Italy
Actually it seems lately that the unstable crust that houses our feet is moving everywhere.. But today, one of the worst quakes to hit northeast Italy in hundreds of years rattled the region around Bologna early Sunday.
A civil defense official told the AP that it was the worst earthquake since the 1300s..
The quickening just got quicker..

Missed this notable story from yesterday.. a 4.1 quake was downgraded to a 3.8 but the real story is that it was near the San Andreas fault and it was felt in Los Angeles..
More from CNN on the quake. No major damages..
It was not on the San Andreas fault. But close. Too close for comfort?
If you have been watching lately the ring of fire in the Pacific is .. well… on fire. Is it only a matter of time? Well of course the answer is yes. It is only a matter of time for virtually anything on this planet. Hopefully a big one won’t hit like it did in the past.. But with how active the ring has been as of late, this latest “near” Andreas quake is a little too close for comfort…

Just when you thought you were getting ahead of the game… comes this study
Sure, my pudding expires December 21 2012 and lots of other people think people in general will, too. But we can’t lose hope. Fukushima may have blasted the planet with extreme radiation.. others worry about our online rights being suddenly stripped with the next bill that has too long of an acronym to even understand anymore. And the weather is crazy, isn’t it? Slightly maddening cows hopefully didn’t get into our meat supply, even though South Korea banned our imports. We will still eat them. Beef, it’s what for dinner. 20 years later you may go mad, too.
But all that aside, life isn’t that bad, right?
Enter this study: The planet Earth is ready to face a century of disasters.
That’s right.. not just a few weeks, or a month.. or a year or two. No, this report goes all the way: A whole century. But the time humans make it to the 22nd, if we should be so lucky as a species, generations may look back on us in 2012 and say ‘these poor schmucks didn’t know what was about to hit them!’
The Royal Society seems to know. They say world population needs to be ‘stabalised’ (British spelling) in order to take awayeth from the rich nations and giveth to the poor nations. Yes, indeed. Agenda 21 anyone? Perhaps conspiracy theories of population control are right after all?
What surprised me was that this report didn’t talk much about the most pressing issue set to face our world in the next 20 or so years: Water. Just peruse your local video rental store…..oh wait they are all shut down… Go to Netflix, you won’t find these in the local RedBox: 5 documentaries that you must see to understand the water crisis that we face—in our lifetime..
But instead of worrying about clean water and air… let’s frack. Seriously.. Fracking make it all go away.
But it does seem to cause an increase in manmade earthquakes, doesn’t it? If you care. Most of the fracking in rural areas anyway. And what person REALLY cares about the rural area anyway.
Besides the Obama administration, which wants to limit what farmhands can do.
Little House on the Prairie. Now regulated!?
Get me Bill Gates! I need a vaccine.
My rambling Thursday morning whatever. Over and out.

I thought time flew only when you were having fun..?
One year.. do we even remember the people of Japan anymore? Do we even think of the radiation levels.. wonder how much we got here…….12 months is a quick long time.
