The Fukushima files..
I take news from Fukushima with a grain of salt. Maybe instead I should take news about the nuclear disaster constantly in progress with a capsule of iodine instead, but I’m not quite there yet.
But where I am is constantly freaked by the news coming from there—news that the mainstream media really, arguably, is not reporting. Japan still grapples with the devastation of a post-quake land.. post tsunami.. Always on edge due to continuous jolts from fault lines. The ring of fire is on fire, and has been since March 2011.
Also today, another story floated around the world like earthquake debris: A former Fukushima worker believes that the ‘entire country’ of Japan could be evacuated if No. 4 fuel pool collapses.
Hear that? The entire country.
Oh I’m sorry, you’re busy watching the CHERNOBYL DIARIES trailer.. Get back to that, then…Words of Murata and this Daiichi worker got immediate attention after translation. Whether anything was lost in translation? I don’t know.. whether it was hyperbole? I don’t know.. Was Murata trying to just get attention of the world on Fukushima? Attention that slipped away steadily since radiation starting pouring out of the reactor and spread across the world.
Oh, and yes, if you’re on a beautiful beach somewhere along the left coast, get ready: The shores will soon be plagued by debris from Japan. It’s already hitting Hawaii and Alaska.
It is a small world after all.
So raise a glass to luck. And hopefully Murata is wrong and our luck will not run out…

The Great Mississippi River is on the rise.. moving throughout Bayou country.. hopes that New Orleans will be spared.. An udpate
Bayou country is heading for rough times.. The gates have been open and the flooding will soon begin.. Engineers have been attempting to stop a disaster in Baton Rouge and New Orleans by flooding farmland and other small towns up river.. thespillways have been opened in order to save New Orleans from catastrophe. While not many are arguing the morals of saving a big city by destroying small ones, it’s occurring now. Today, and this week.. Crest expected in Memphis Monday..
Farmlands to be flooded
Residents warned to leave..
Exacuations mandatory in some places..
Wildlife *some dangerous* to move to higher land..
Cajuns with deep roots … ceding to the floods..Posted on May 15, 2011 with 1 note ()

Unsettling thoughts.. and times
I am no prophet.. I am no believer in ‘end times’ predictions. I do not evangelize anything .. I force no religious or ethical rules on anyone.. I feel that a lot of other people are a lot smarter than I am. But something keeps me from being calm about the state of our current times..
I hope for the best in Japan. I hope few are dead.. few are injured.. the waters recede.. and the nuclear crisis goes away and we all breath a sigh of relief.
But I don’t think it will, at all. Something deep down in my overall being just keeps thinking: This is not over yet.
I prayed this morning, and this afternoon.. and while I don’t conclusively know a God is present to hear the words I said, I have faith and hope that one is.. At least some type of force that keeps us all in check. Some type of entity or being that, in the end, has concern for humanity.
There are moments, like this one, where I think humanity has a ton more challenging days ahead.. More than we want. And more than we need. Japan is in flames and floods, the Ring of Fire is alive with vengeance, and the Middle East is erupting in violence.
But it’s Saturday night.. and we shouldn’t worry about all that. Right?
Not anymore…
